The Sensitizers generally open up to their own emotions, are very sensitive to subtle emotional changes, and then try to control these emotions (McFarland & Buehler,1997). On the other hand, repressors take the isolation and avoidance strategies to their emotions. They tend to “escape” from facing their own emotions. The literature has been arguing which method is more effective and as a result more “healthy” in coping with negative emotions. The current study further divided subjects more carefully into three types: High anxiety, low anxiety, and repressor. Two major results were found. Repressors indeed took more of distraction strategies in controlling their emotion and these processes occurred mostly in the conscious level instead of the pre-conscious level. The controlling process of high anxiety and low anxiety people are less consistent across different experiment paradigms. Secondly, the previous results also interacted with types of emotions and types of threats. This indicated that the process might be more complicated and very senstitive to ways of measurement. Further studies will be needed to compare different types of research paradigms in studying conscious and precooonscious processes.application/pdf34345 bytesapplication/pdfzh-TW國立臺灣大學心理學系暨研究所情緒控制情緒壓抑Emotional controlrepression情緒控制的社會認知歷程:情緒壓抑者與敏感者的對比reporthttp://ntur.lib.ntu.edu.tw/bitstream/246246/9651/1/882413H002009.pdf
