Computer-aided modeling tools allow us to better understand the future road transportation system and accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility in Taiwan. The policy impact comparison will be accomplished in four research tasks: 1) to construct a Taiwan road vehicle fleet model to simulate the dynamics of the rolling vehicle stock and their environmental impacts (such as energy demand and life-cycle emissions) at a macroscopic level, 2) to develop an emissions inventory for Taiwan focused on the transportation sector detail and project future emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants under policy scenarios, 3) to analyze regional air quality impacts using a state-of-the-art regional chemical transport model, and 4) to quantify the impact of various policy designs on road transportation emissions, climate change, human health, and the economy.
