Eight species include Acacia confuse, Aleurites fordii, Zelkova formosana, Cryptomeria japonica, Taiwania cryptomerioides, and Chamaecyparis obtusa Var. Formosana. Three different soil pedons were selected to calculate the spatial and temporal variation of different plantation time of each species, ranged from 10 to 50 years. The carbon storage of each pedon was calculated from surface to one meter or to the rock based on the data of soil carbon content, bulk density, fragment content of the soil. The standard operation procedure (SOP) of calculating the carbon pool of plantation forest soils is also established in this project. The preliminary result indicated that the carbon pool have significant differences among ten species (p < 0.05), but there are no significant differences among different plantation time of same species. The carbon pool is lowest in plantation forest soil of Aleurites fordii, only 2 kg C/30cm/m2, 4 kg C/50cm/m2, or 4 kg C/m/m2 and the carbon pool is highest in plantation forest soil of Chamaecyparis obtusa Var. formosana, 11 kg C/30cm/m2, 14 kg C/50cm/m2, or 21 kg C/m/m2。The carbon pool of other plantation species are between these two species, 6-8 kg C/30cm/m2, 8-10 kg C/50cm/m2, or 10-14 kg C/m/m2. The carbon pool is also significantly related to the elevation of plantation forest (p < 0.05). About 50% of carbon pool was stored in upper 30 cm of one meter pedon and about 70% of carbon pool was stored in upper 50 cm of one meter pedon of different species.人工林土壤碳存量時間與空間變異海拔plantation forest speciessoil carbon poolspatial and temporal variationelevation土壤碳吸存之時空變異(1/3)
