臺灣大學: 經濟學研究所林明仁區俊傑Kit Ao, ChonChonKit Ao2013-03-272018-06-282013-03-272018-06-282010http://ntur.lib.ntu.edu.tw//handle/246246/253280文獻一般發現看電視跟人類行為有高度相關。本文使用印度的人口普查資料,觀察電視是否會提升印度女性的地位。迴歸的結果發現,在控制了財富、年齡、教育年數、職業以及其他變數下,看電視的女性擁有比較高的地位。本文進一步使用女生取水時間作為工具變數作兩階段最小平方法(2SLS)分析。在討論取水時間這個工具變數所捕捉到的都是社經地位比較低的女生後,結果發現看電視會提高印度女性的地位,尤其是對社經地位比較低的女生影響最大。這表示看電視對女性地位有非線性(non-linear)的影響:電視對本來社經地位比較低的女生影響較大,對社經地位比較高的女生影響較小。The literature generally suggests a close relationship between television exposure and human behaviors. By using the nationwide demographic survey in India, this paper investigates the impact of television exposure on women''s empowerment after the tremendous expansion of television network. To tackle the endogeneity problem, we use "time to collect water" as instrumental variable for television exposure. We argue that the instrument captures the poorer subpopulation and the effect of television is non-linear since it contains larger impact to the women with lower socioeconomic status.
