2008-08-012024-05-14https://scholars.lib.ntu.edu.tw/handle/123456789/660464摘要:這是我國BELLE 組第四個三年計畫,目標是CP 破壞物理、B 物理及研發下一代B 介 子工廠(Super Belle)所需的偵測器。在第一個三年計畫,我們十分成功的完成了前置量 能器(EFC),並提供KEKB 加速器之亮度與束流監測資訊。為了B 衰變中CP 破壞研究而與 建之Belle,BaBar 已在2001 宣佈發現B 系統CP 破壞,競爭形白熱化。B 系統中的直接 CP 破壞已於2004 年暑假被Belle 和BaBar 合力發現,Belle 於2005 及2006 年進一步證 實直接CP 破壞在B 系統中的確很大。在一些物理結果上,如b→s 的混合CP 破壞和B→K 與→K的直接CP 破壞比較,皆與理論預期稍有不同,似乎有新物理的跡象。KEKB 加速 器運轉非常順利,Belle 的數據量現在已經是BaBar 的1.4 倍,加速器進一步的升級已於 2007 年2 月完成,因此Belle 已經是研究B 物理的最佳場所。Super Belle 的計畫預定 於2009 年夏開始建造,東亞將和西歐(CERN)將成為研究flavor physics 的兩大重鎮。 在硬體方面,本組打算與KEK 和夏威夷大學合作,從事下一代的矽偵測器(pixel)的 R&D,並和KEK 研討準備參與Super Belle 偵測器的建造。此外我們也將繼續調整EFC 之 運轉使其功能最佳化。在物理分析上,主持人現負整個Belle 團隊分析之責,我們除了 一些CP 破壞與稀有B 衰變之物理分析之外,亦將擴展做一些其他方面如找尋新粒子等的 重要題目,並持續做一些雙光子物理。本總計畫提供如下之功能: 1. Belle 實驗分攤費: 我們現有約10 名博士級人力參與Belle 必須分擔定額Belle running cost。 2. 〈共同〉主持人及博士後國外差旅費: 為了參與眾多之各種會議〈不勝枚舉〉及執勤、推動研究,必須多次赴KEK。 (我們已在進行每週2-3 次與KEK 之視訊會議,儘量壓低赴KEK 次數) 3. 硬體計畫R&D 與Super Belle 計畫所需的前置經費 除了Pixel R&D 所需的經費外,另外也申請一點經費做為開始建造Super Belle 的準備作業。 <br> Abstract: This is the 4th three-year plan for Taiwan Belle Group, which aims at delivering physics output on both rare B decays and CP violation . The EFC subsystem was successfully completed in 1st three-year plan, 1996-1999, and continues to be useful for luminosity monitoring and for tagging virtual photons. The purpose of B Factories is to study CP violation in B decays that are necessarily rare. Competition is now mainly from BaBar, and also from CDF and D0. The large mixing induced CP violation has been discovered by both Belle and BaBar in 2001; in 2004 the first evidence of direct CP violation in the B sector was found by both Belle and BaBar. Further update from the Belle collaboration in 2005 and 2006 confirmed the large direct CP violation in the decay B→K. Moreover, we have found that the CP violating parameter sin(21) in the b→ s penguin modes is somewhat lower but still consistent with the Standard Model expectation. The noticeable difference between ACP(Kand ACP(Kmay suggest new physics or something we did not consider before. In those important analyses, the NTUHEP group already played the pivotal role. KEKB has performed well and currently the accumulated data by Belle is a factor of 1.4 larger than the BaBar data. KEKB has successfully installed crab cavity in early 2007. For further boosting luminosity and equipping better detector, a Super B factory project is proposed to start the Super KEKB and Super Belle construction in Summer 2009. With the startup of LHC in 2008, East Asia and West Europe will be the most important bases for flavor physics. Hardware wise, we propose to cooperate with KEK and University of Hawaii on pixel R&D for Super Belle. We will also participate in detector construction for Super Belle (we already joined the BINP (Russian institute) group to upgrade the Electro-magnetic calorimeter). Meanwhile, continuous running of EFC is very important for KEK-B, hence for Belle. Analysis wise, the PI becomes one of the Belle analysis coordinators, who are responsible for coordinating the whole Belle physics analysis. Within this three-year plan, we will dedicate ourselves on physics analysis. Besides, rare B decays, we will also touch other topics, such as new particle searches, Bs physics and two-photon physics. This Covering Proposal has the following functions: 1. Belle Running Cost: We now have around 10 Ph.D. members in Belle from Taiwan, and must contribute significantly to Belle running cost. Luckily, Belle did not raise the charge. 2.
