The clone of MAb-B2 was obtained by immunizing mice with whole virus particles and further identified using indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western blot assay. In addition, it detected KHV in KHV-infected cells but not in those of mock-infected cells as demonstrated by indirect immunofluorescence assay. The neutralization test showed that MAb-B2 neutralized KHV. Furthermore, we uncovered that MAb-B2 recognizes the ORF72 of KHV as revealed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and Western blot assays. Additionally, MAb-B2 has been used as a diagnostic tool for detection of KHV in clinical samples by immunohistochemistry. Collectively, our results indicated that MAb-B2 could be used in the development of a diagnostic kit for diagnosis of KHV infections and ORF72 protein of KHV might be a candidate for future vaccine development. ? 2013 Institute of Microbiology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v.v.i.[SDGs]SDG3capsid protein; diagnostic agent; monoclonal antibody; neutralizing antibody; virus antibody; virus antigen; animal; article; Bagg albino mouse; carp; enzyme linked immunosorbent assay; fluorescent antibody technique; Herpes virus; immunohistochemistry; immunology; isolation and purification; liquid chromatography; mouse; Taiwan; tandem mass spectrometry; virology; Western blotting; Animals; Antibodies, Monoclonal; Antibodies, Neutralizing; Antibodies, Viral; Antigens, Viral; Blotting, Western; Capsid Proteins; Carps; Chromatography, Liquid; Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay; Fluorescent Antibody Technique, Indirect; Herpesviridae; Immunohistochemistry; Mice; Mice, Inbred BALB C; Taiwan; Tandem Mass SpectrometryProduction of monoclonal antibody against ORF72 of koi herpesvirus isolated in Taiwanjournal article10.1007/s12223-013-0261-72-s2.0-84894612211https://www2.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84894612211&doi=10.1007%2fs12223-013-0261-7&partnerID=40&md5=3570bd1b1ecd43d97b36397006171f96
