I had finished working on the first section- “Identity Mechanism and Dynamics of Ethnicity: Self-construction of Non-Han Residents in Taoyuan’ s ‘Yunnan Villagers’” from August 2001 to July 2003. At the very moment as a visiting scholar at University of Washington, Seattle, I am conducting research on Hierarchic Construction of Ethnic Enclaves and Cultural Immersion: Ethnography of Laotian Immigrants in Northwest America”. A new topic in this third section following the main thesis of network of ethnic relationships and experiences of previous researches as critical basis develops advanced study on homeland reformulation and shaping of world knowledge among non-Han Burman and Thailand originated women. I plan to study the changing processes of cultural identities, ethnicity, and national awareness, and judgment of macro- and micro-histories among these women after experiencing hometown tourism in and out Taiwan and northern Southeast Asia. In theoretical dimension, I prepare to re-examine relevant major concluding re-marks from various ethnographic works of ethnicity, anthropology of tourism, ethnohistory, and anthropology of history. Also the model of ethnic ecology of Southeast Asia out of S. E. Asia suggested in my previous works will be elaborately discussed. In accordance with participation and observation in non-Han spouses’ multi-home fields, including several locations in Taiwan, Burma, Thailand & Laos, we expect to find out general condition of self-identity and self-management under the circumstances of world-wide moving trend among minority groups who are lacking of an object of national obedience.
