The focus was on studies that dealt with cerebral aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, direct carotid-cavernous fistula, dural arteriovenous fistula, intracranial atherosclerosis, and acute symptomatic intracranial arterial occlusion. Studies on extracranial atherosclerosis and other nonvascular part were excluded. Interventional neuroradiology is a well-developed subspecialty that mainly treats neurovascular disease in a less invasive way. Advances in new technology and knowledge will make it an important method to treat different disorders in future. ? 2008 Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation.[SDGs]SDG3acetylsalicylic acid; alteplase; clopidogrel; dipyridamole; enbucrilate; fibrinogen receptor antagonist; fibrinolytic agent; tissue plasminogen activator; urokinase; warfarin; arteriovenous fistula; artificial embolism; bleeding; brain arteriovenous malformation; brain artery aneurysm; brain atherosclerosis; carotid cavernous fistula; cerebrovascular disease; chemoembolization; clinical trial; coil embolization; combination chemotherapy; computed tomographic angiography; computer assisted tomography; drug megadose; dural arteriovenous fistula; human; interventional radiology; monotherapy; neuroimaging; neuroradiology; occlusive cerebrovascular disease; outcomes research; recanalization; review; stent; thrombectomyCurrent status of interventional neuroradiology (neurointerventional surgery)review10.1016/S1016-3190(08)60033-62-s2.0-53349128865
