第一,從外來語「造詞成分」與固有日語之關係的角度來分析:首先檢討這些外來語「造詞成分」是否有相對應的固有日語(包括「和語」「漢語」)詞<br> Abstract: This project mainly examines the word formation of bound morphemes in bound form gailaigo of the Japanese language. Gailaigo morphemes in the bound form, such as “ホーム,” “アワー,” and “マイ,” cannot form words individually, but rather, act as morphemes that combine with other morphemes to form compound words. Here it is referred to as “bound morphemes.” Gailaigo bound morphemes such as “ホーム” and “アワー” have a characteristic trait: their origins, such as “home” and “hour,” are free form morphemes in their originating languages. However, when they are borrowed into the Japanese language, they become bound form morphemes. This project aims to discuss, with respect to the analyses of word formation theories, why gailaigo morphemes, which are free form morphemes in their original languages, transform into the bound form when they become Japanese morphemes. This project mainly approaches the above problem in the following ways. First, by analyzing the relationship between gailaigo bound morphemes and existing Japanese morphemes: determining whether these gailaigo morphemes correspond to existing Japanese morphemes in the semantics and pramatics sense (including wago, native Japanese, and kango, Chinese-originated Japanese). If a correspondence can be established, similarities and differences between their formative traits can then be studied and analyzed. Second, by analyzing the relationship between gailaigo bound morphemes and their foreign language origins: regarding this approach, it mainly examines, by way of studying the traits of its semantics and parts of speech, the similarities and differences of formative traits between gailaigo bound morphemes and foreign language origins. Third, by analyzing and discussing the formative characteristics of the gailaigo bound morphemes’ coinage traits, coinage functionality, and word productivity in itself. Thereby discussing the possibilities of gailaigo bound morphemes becoming free form morphemes or the tendency to turn into affixes. This project is a continuation of my previous research regarding the formation of compounding words composed of wago and gailaigo, which is part of my consistent and systematic research regarding the broader theme of Japanese compounding word formation in the recent years.
