The algorithm uses the genetic algorithm (GA) to dispatch reactive power sources under various system conditions. GA aids the dispatching of reactive power sources so as to maintain the specified security level. The reactive power sources used in the proposed genetic algorithm are transformer tap changers, static capacitors, static Var compensators (SVCs) and generator terminal voltages. The proposed method has been tested on an IEEE 30-bus power system, and successful results have been obtained.Genetic algorithm; Phasor measurement unit; Voltage security enhancement; Voltage security indicesGenetic algorithm as a reactive power source dispatching aid for voltage security enhancementjournal article
