Over one-third of the faculty members have had research papers published in the top three international accounting journals. The Department of Accounting has not only performed outstandingly among universities across Asia, Europe and America, but also received titles such as Asia’s best Graduate School of Accounting in many international organizational rankings, while peaking among the world’s top 50 accounting departments in universities. The educational goals of the department are to cultivate professionals specializing in senior management, tax accounting and auditing to become outstanding leaders in the professional practice of accounting, as well as to cultivate research and teaching professionals in the field. In order to equip students with internationalized educational resources on accounting, the department has signed academic cooperation programs on duel-degrees with the University of Illinois, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Dallas, Michigan State University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the City University of Hong Kong. Upon completion of the required courses, students can receive degrees from both National Taiwan University and one of the aforementioned schools. To effectively enhance the internationalization of academic research in accounting and provide a platform for domestic and international exchange on accounting theories and practices, the Department established the NTU Accounting Research Center, with Professor Ross Watts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as its current Director. The Center regularly holds annual seminars such as the NTU Accounting Research Symposium, Chinese Accounting Academic Conference, SUFE-NTU-CITYU Joint Accounting Workshop, and a two-way academic exchange-visiting program among teachers and students with Beijing University and Kyoto University. The Department also arranges discussion forums, inviting scholars from local and abroad as well as top-notch international accounting experts, so as to enhance the Department’s academic performance in the field. AccountingAcademic Institute
