With the proposed g m-boosted and current-reused technique, the power consumption of the VCO is decreased. In addition, the superior cyclostationary noise property of the Colpitts VCO can be used to improve the phase noise. The proposed VCO is implemented in 0.18m CMOS 1P6M process. The core VCO only dissipates 1.05 mW with 1V supply. At 5.255 GHz, the measurements show 117.62 dBc/Hz phase noise at 1 MHz offset. © 2011 IEEE.Colpitts; Colpitts VCO; Cyclostationary noise; Low Power; Voltage controlled oscillator; Oscillistors; Phase noise; Programmable logic controllers; Variable frequency oscillatorsLow power Gm-boosted differential Colpitts VCOconference paper10.1109/SOCC.2011.60851092-s2.0-84255200916
