Different from most of the previous works on composition-based water networks, the design problem in the present study is extended to consider a number of non-conserved properties of the process streams. The objective of this work is to obtain an optimum operating strategy with the minimum total annual cost (TAC) for a property-based batch water network. The design problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear program (MINLP), and a case study is presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed formulation.
