According to the error analysis, it is proved that the mathematical model for spatial straightness error evaluation cannot be linearized. A criterion for verification of the existence and uniqueness of the minimum zone solution is proposed. A new computational method is also proposed, and practical examples are given. Finally, the correctness of this method is demonstrated using a geometrical solution.
