Hence, management of soil salinity has been a challenging task for water resources engineers and managers in Taiwan. During the second year of this project, relevant numerical models have been collected and assessed. For the next years, the best model will be employed to study the effects of field groundwater recharge on the saline water intrusion. Cases of preventive measures to mitigate the saline water intrusion will be designed and simulated. The effects of the proposed measures for controlling saline water intrusion will be quantified and compared. Finally, suggestions regarding preventive measures will be proposed. The results of this project can serve as references for future management of soil salinity in costal areas.
