The main sources of data in ODB are provided by R/V Ocean Researcher I, II, and III through laborious surveys around Taiwan in more than three decades. By far ODB has archived >55,000 CTD (Conductivity-Temperature-Depth) casts, >6,310,000 ship-borne ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) profiles, >100,000,000 bathymetric tracks, >2000 cruises EK acoustic echo-sounding transects, >6,000 trawls from various depths, and >130,000 species abundance count records, including various physical, chemical, geophysical, and biological datasets. These archived data have undergone strict quality assurance procedures and been analyzed delicately for the purposes of scientific research, public infrastructure engineering, marine rescue background reference, and general education, etc. As an interdisciplinary integrated ocean data center as well as a knowledge inquiry unit, ODB not only collect and curate data resulted from field, in-situ, and remote-sensing observations around Taiwan and adjacent regions, but also dedicate to developing value-added applications, providing an one-stop service of searching, retrieving, and visualizing cross-field multi-dimensional oceanic information by using up-to-date technologies such as distributed database system, machine-to-machine (M2M) communication platform, and Geographic Information System (GIS) implementation strategy. An integrative, informative, and interactive website, Hidy Viewer, has been designed and published to demonstrate ODB’s various data services. This year, in addition to refine current functionalities and services, ODB aims to develop more user-oriented multilevel applications via constructing intuitive data querying interface, providing interactive data visualization service, delivering geo-registered imagery mapping protocol, application programming interfaces, and open datasets on the basis of established distributed database system. ODB keeps on improving the backend performance and information security from both hardware and software perspectives. To process the foreseeing huge data coming with the new research vessels, such as data from the multibeam echosounder, ODB is dedicated to develop corresponding procedures and solutions to explore such potentially advanced data applications in the future of oceanographic researches.分散式資料庫技術海洋資料分析資訊服務平台ocean data analysisdistributed database systemocean data services海洋學門資料庫補助計畫
