The purpose of the present research is to look into the previous attempts of writing a historical novel portraying Taiwan in 17th century, the moment in which Taiwan enters in History, with the purpose of providing some ideas for an occasional writer. Understandably, these ideas are personal, for this reason the author of this work volunteers himself for that literary endeavor. Based on their historical or geographical proximity with the topic, four completely different novels or literary accounts, were taken into consideration for this research: Krijgsman en Koopman, Tales of Dutch Formosa, La venganza de Fajardo, and Qudarat, Lord of the Pulangi. After analyzing them, I tried to look for the most suitable elements that they might provide for a consciousness building process. And I found that all of them share the naïve inclination of “fostering unity”. Of course, the value of this inclination only can apply to those authors and readers that still are captivated by how “men and women behave when forced to work their way out of extraordinary dilemmas, something that is as old as the art of story-telling itself”. 這四部小說為:Krijgsman en Koopman;Tales of Dutch Formosa;La venganza de Fajardo;Qudarat, Lord of the Pulangi。 |
