In practice, by introducing different sizes of hard IPs (oversized IPs, OIPs) from various vendors, the original regular meshbased NoC architecture may be destroyed because the locations of the OIPs invalidate parts of routing paths. The resulting mesh-based NoC becomes irregular and needs new routing algorithms to detour the OIPs. However, some routing algorithms for irregular mesh-based NoC may cause heavy traffic around the OIPs, which also results in nonuniform traffic spots around the OIPs. |
