Dermatological manifestations of drug hypersensitivity such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis may also present in such cases. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis is a hyperimmune response caused by unchecked stimulation of macrophages, natural killer cells, and cytotoxic T lymphocytes. |
