When the pain is refractory to medical therapy and rehabilitation, interventional therapy should be considered. Traditionally, corticosteroid is the primary medication for injection. However, regenerative materials like platelet-rich plasma or amniotic suspension allograft are getting more and more popular among interventional pain physicians, and there is growing evidence of its therapeutic efficacy. Successful interventional management is based on correct diagnosis and precise interventional technique. Image-guided injection techniques play a critical role in the preciseness of both diagnosis and intervention. In this chapter, we will focus on ultrasound-guided injection techniques for the spine. These techniques could be applied in either diagnostic block or therapeutic injection. |
