Description
This project aims to integrate Taiwan’s research capacity in thoracic medicine, monitor international development trends, and formulate medium- and long-term research strategies to support national science policy and clinical applications. The field of thoracic medicine encompasses pulmonary internal medicine and thoracic surgery, covering airway diseases, pulmonary infections and immune disorders, thoracic malignancies, interstitial lung diseases, and environmental health—key areas in Taiwan’s clinical medicine and public health. In addition to assisting the NSTC in project review, international collaboration, and talent recruitment, this project will establish a research database in thoracic medicine, organize academic seminars and result-sharing meetings, and promote interdisciplinary integration and global exchange. It is expected to guide the nation toward strategic and innovative research directions. The anticipated outcomes include strengthening the link between clinical and basic research, enhancing national capacity in precision medicine, antimicrobial resistance, environmental and climate health, elevating Taiwan’s international visibility in thoracic medicine, and contributing to long-term advancement in public health, academia, and the biomedical industry.
