Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to apply the fuzzy theory to analyze the
relationship between cabbage seedling quality and growth environmental conditions,
including temperature and sunlight radiation. Membership functions and inference
rules were constructed based on experts' knowledge and farmers' experiences. The
result of simulation (seedling quality) was compared with the score based on the
quality evaluation by experts; and themembership functions and inference rules were
then modified. The best model developed in this study shows that the root mean square deviation (RMSD) of the seedling quality scores from the fuzzy simulation is
0.71 with the correlation coefficient of 0.86; the RMSD value is much less for the
group with better seedling quality (RMSD = 0.54). This research provides sound
basis for future study on the control and management of environments for seedling
growth.
