Abstract
A multiple-beam two-dimensional steering apparatus built with two orthogonal one-axis scanning mirror arrays (1 × N) and cylindrical lenses is presented in this study. The merits of this scanning system include (1) low cost, as the support structures are all homemade using fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printing, (2) a clever system design, which shows a likeness to a 4-f optical system, and (3) no demand for two-axis mirrors. The maximum angular coverages by a sub-beam in the x and y directions are 4.48° and 3.12°, respectively. This multiple-beam steering apparatus can potentially be used for laser trackers, 3D shape measurement, light detection, and ranging (LiDAR).
