The merits of this scanning system include (1) low cost, as the support structures are all homemade using fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printing, (2) a clever system design, which shows a likeness to a 4-f optical system, and (3) no demand for two-axis mirrors. The maximum angular coverages by a sub-beam in the x and y directions are 4.48° and 3.12°, respectively. This multiple-beam steering apparatus can potentially be used for laser trackers, 3D shape measurement, light detection, and ranging (LiDAR). |
