Abstract
In this paper, we report a new microfluidic approach to stimulate both vasculogenic and angiogenic processes in one microfluidic chip. This microfluidic platform can first develop a vascularized microtissue by vasculogenic process in one microchamber followed by stimulating angiogentic sprouting process from these pre-existing vasculature and growing into an adjacent microchamber to form vessels in a stroma or tumor microtissue. Experimental results verified that angiogenic process and tumor-angiogenic process can be induced in this microfluidic platform. This design can provide a more realistic angiogenic vessel network for the application of drug delivery and organ-on-a-chip. ? 2019 CBMS-0001.
