The oxygen ionic conductivities in the yttria-stabilized zirconia were apparently improved due to the addition of the Sc 2 O 3 dopants. The characteristics of zirconia-based solid electrolytes contained Y 2 O 3 and Sc 2 O 3 with various components were analyzed here. The oxygen ion diffusion mechanism and its ionic conductivity, activation energy, micro-structure of electrolyte were studied for the analyses of the complex dopants effect on the solid electrolyte.
