Abstract
A 39-GHz millimeter-wave over fiber (MMWoF) system is demonstrated by using a dual-wavelength injection-locked colorless laser diode. Through the deviated injection, the colorless laser diode narrows its spectral linewidth to 180 kHz. In addition, a bit-error-rate of 2.8×10^(-3) is also observed for the 25-km single-mode fiber (SMF) transmitted 24-Gbit/s 64-QAM OFDM data. By enlarging the injection power to -3 dBm, the spectral linewidth, peak power and carrier-to-noise ratio of remotely beat 39-GHz MMW carrier are optimized to 8.86 MHz, -49 dBm and 42 dB, respectively. This work successfully fuses all-optical MMW generation with fiber optic communication.
