Abstract
An initially saturated array of uniaxial particles with log-normal distribution (parameter σ) of activation volumes V relaxes in reversing field h at temperature T. We find that the time tc at which its net magnetization vanishes is κ(〈V〉, h)·tc(h, σ) = In 2·exp[γ(σ)Q(h)/T] where κ(〈V〉) is decay rate associated with the most probable volume and Q(h) is barrier height. The function γ(α)>0 if the particle magnetic moment M is proportional to V and γ(σ)<0 if it is not. In comparison, the magnetic viscosity S(tc) is insensitive to the relation between M and V. © 1993.
