Size effect on the electron-spin resonance

Abstract
Electron-spin-resonance (ESR) measurements have been performed on samples of the system (Formula presented) Substitution of Ca in the Sr site changes the effective ionic radius of the A site, but the average Mn valence remains unchanged. The variation of the resonance linewidth, magnetization, and activation energy as functions of temperature and Ca concentration has been studied. The linewidth increases with an increase in the Ca content, which has been explained on the basis of the change in the tolerance factor. For (Formula presented) the ESR line intensity varies exponentially with temperature with an activation energy dependent on x. However, for samples with (Formula presented) there is a change in the activation energy in the temperature range of the present study (110-550 K). © 1998 The American Physical Society.
