Abstract
Abstract Block pulse functions are used to approximate bilinear systems. In parameter identification problems, a set of linear algebraic equations is obtained with the parameters as unknown variables. The formulation is much simpler than that from the Walsh functions. Least squares estimate is used to determine unknown parameters from the algebraic equations using input‐output data. Satisfactory results are obtained in the illustrative examples.
