In this paper, we present a microfluidic device that can facilitate probing the traits of EMT in micrometer-scale environments. Furthermore, we show that epithelial cancer cells can grow to a tumor spheroid in the device, acquire properties of mesenchymal cells, and have an increased ability of migration, comparing with native cancer cells. The microfluidic device requires no external pumping systems yet being pipette-friendly in usage. Copyright ? (2011) by the Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society. |
