Abstract
In this paper, we present a K-band temperature compensated transmitted power detector embedded within a power amplifier. A dummy detector is added by the detector without input power to compensate variation due to different temperatures. We also adopt the DC degeneration technique in the power detector to enhance its linearity. At OP1dB, the measured linearity error is 0.61 dB, 0.57 dB, 0.47 dB, and 0.39 dB at 25°C, 50°C, 75°C, and 100°C, respectively. The measured dynamic range within ±0.5 dB linearity error is larger than 15 dB. The dc power consumption is 0.098 mW for the power detector core from the 1.8-V power supply. In addition, we verified the transfer curve and linearity error under different temperatures. From the measured results, our proposed power detector can truly eliminate power measurement variation due to temperature change.
