Long-term care refers to providing a set of long-term medical, nursing, personal, and social support care for a person with physical and mental dysfunction for an extended period of time; its purpose is to promote or maintain physical function and to enhance independent and normal living ability. The population of all age groups, with chronic physical or mental illness, can receive such care service at institutional, non-institutional and home settings. Here we discuss current long-term care service in Taiwan, including assessments, payments and how to bridge patients to the long-term resources. ? 2019 Society of Internal Medicine of Taiwan. All Rights Reserved. |
