Abstract
Blood separation by use of Taylor vortex flow is presented. First, the experiment of flow visualization was used to confirm the formation of vortex. The observation is applied to filtration experiments, which were performed using porcine blood to determine filtration efficiency with varying rotational speeds from 930 to 2120 rpm. The result showed that filtration efficiency of PLT(platelet) is approximately 7.45 times to the blood inlet. In addition, decreasing amount of RBC(red blood cell) and WBC(white blood cell) are 24.8% and 19.2%. Copyright ? (2018) by Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society. All rights reserved.
