The effects of the interfaces in Ge/Si/Ge and Si/Ge/Si sandwich structures on the phonon transport are of particular interest. Compared with those of a single Si-Si interface and a single Ge-Si interface, the interfacial thermal resistances in the sandwich structures have similar magnitudes but different variation trends. The inelastic intrinsic scattering in the confined layer, which is capable of redistributing the phonon energies, and the frequency-dependent interfacial transmissivities are the dominant factors. For illuminating these mechanisms, the spectral heat flux distributions are probed carefully. This study provides new insights into phonon transport in confined films. ? 2021 Elsevier Ltd |
