Using rental listing data in Taiwan and applying a spatial difference-in-differences strategy, we find that the inception of a bicycle-sharing system significantly increases the rental prices of nearby properties. Results also indicate that citizens benefit from the system by solving the first-and-last-mile problem in public transportation but do not value the system as an independent transportation mode. We do not find robust evidence showing that the inception of a bicycle-sharing system improves air quality. |
