Abstract
More electric"is becoming the mainstream of novel aircraft development. A high-performance and reliable starter generator is essential to achieving this goal. Dual-three-phase synchronous reluctance starter generators (D3φSynRSGs) are considered a potential solution that combines both advantages. This paper proposes the design of a 25 kW D3φSynRSG. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to optimize the machine geometry. An analytical approach based on the fundamental magnetic circuit is proposed to help understand the effectiveness of a dual-three-phase (D3φ) winding. The nonlinear electromagnetic characteristics of the machine are investigated and validated with finite element analysis (FEA).
