Abstract
Purpose: In order to facilitate the process of workplace observation, assessment, and feedback for entrustable professional activities (EPAs), the Taiwan Society of Health System Pharmacists (TSHP) organized faculty training courses. The objective of the present study is to assess the efficacy of these training courses and evaluate their impact on clinical preceptors. Methods: We utilized self-efficacy evaluation questionnaires of EPAs to investigate the efficacy of faculty training courses and measured the reliability of entrustment decisions to explore the impact of faculty consensus training. Results: We collected 214 valid self-efficacy evaluation questionnaires from 4 faculty training courses, achieving a response rate of 96.83%. The internal consistency of these questionnaires, as determined by Cronbach's alpha, ranged from 0.831 to 0.940. Notably, the post-test scores for each item on EPAs self-efficacy evaluation were significantly higher compared to the pre-test scores (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the reliability of entrustment decision improved as preceptors reached a consensus on the specific content of clinical teaching and engaged in practical exercises. Conclusions: The results of this present study provide insights into the awareness and differences among clinical preceptors on the EPAs. These findings can serve as a valuable resource for designing future faculty training programs. Once clinical preceptors complete their training programs and become proficient in guiding EPAs, they can apply their knowledge to perform daily workplace tasks effectively and provide personalized feedback to enhance the effectiveness of workplace training.
