Abstract
For a translational landslide, the sliding mass typically remains constant normal stress state and mineral content before the depositional or hitting stage. Therefore, the slip rate becomes one of the main influencing factors on the variation of shear resistance from initial to rapid movement (Togo et al., 2014; Yang et al., 2014; Scaringi et al., 2018). Therefore, we combined these technologies, including analysis of aerial images, in situ displacement measurements to investigate the displacement behavior of an active landslide located in a schist area in Taiwan. From the initiation of the landslide in 2015 to July 2021, the landslide generated a horizontal displacement of 33.30 m, representing a strain of 9.00% and exhibited a considerable displacement rate (5–30 mm/day) during the measuring period; however, it has not yet progressed to a catastrophic failure. By integrating the surficial and underground measurements, the location of the basal slip surface developed from the existing schist foliation was confirmed, and the entire displaced mass behaved as a planar-like mass, sliding along the slip surface. © 2023 NSGE.
