Abstract
This paper proposes a current sensing method by using the Enhanced Capture (eCAP) which is a function of the microcontroller. The proposed sensing method detects the rising and falling edges of the pulse signal, computes its duty ratio, and subsequently decodes the signal to reconstruct the actual sensed current. It has a better noise immunity than using the Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), which is easily affected by noise. The proposed sensing method can get more precise feedback value when the reference ground of microcontroller is interfered. This paper introduces the operation of the eCAP module and provides a detailed description of the sensing circuit design process. Additionally, the method for reconstructing the actual current from the signals obtained by the eCAP is presented. Simulation results obtained from the PLECS software and experimental results using the Texas Instruments LAUNCHXL-F28379D as the microcontroller are presented for validation. Finally, a histogram is used to compare the accuracy of the proposed sensing method and the ADC sensing method.
