Abstract
Grid-Forming (GFM) inverter has become an important research topic in recent years, and dispatchable virtual oscillator control (dVOC) is one of the control methods that shows the characteristic of GFM and has many other advantages. However, the overcurrent protection is one of the major challenges to overcome. This article discusses the effects of different kinds of time delays on dVOC inverter with the switch-level current limitation. Computer simulations with MATLAB/Simulink are shown to validate the ability of the current limitation with time delays. A prototype of dVOC inverter with the current limitation is also built and shown a similar result as the simulations present. The values of the current ripple under different conditions are also discussed and compared with experimental results.
