Abstract
In this paper, an iterative decision-feedback hybrid equalization (IDFHE) method is integrated with post-equalization equal-gain combining (EGC) to enhance equalized symbol decision over multipath channels in uplink single-input multipleoutput (SIMO) single-carrier frequency-division multiple-access (SC-FDMA) systems. By use of decision-feedback equalization and hybrid equalizers in different iterations, the IDFHE method can suppress equalization-induced residual intersymbol interference progressively over iterations, while preventing noise enhancement at the last iteration. With SIMO reception, post-equalization EGC is integrated with equalized symbol decision at each iteration to exploit spatial diversity. By simulation, the SIMO IDFHE method is shown to outperform conventional SIMO methods remarkably in error performance and performance robustness against carrier frequency offsets and channel estimation errors.
