The paper about screening of diabetes have been adopted in the guidelines of DAROC. Professor Li has established cell and animal models of obesity, diabetes and atherosclerosis and devoted himself in translational researches of several potential targets, including vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1), fibrinogen-like protein 1, ANGPTL4, and ANGPTL6. He has demonstrated that VAP-1 is a biomarker to predict diabetic complications and a therapeutic target of atherosclerosis. For these studies of VAP-1, he received Professor Fang-Wu Chen Outstanding Research Award, DAROC and Endocrine society of R.O.C. In recent years, metabolic disorders during pregnancy have become his new research interest. He established several gestational cohorts to study the diagnosis, risk factors and pathogenesis of gestational diabetes and gestational dyslipidemia. For these, he has been invited to write review articles about gestational diabetes. In 2023, he received Masato Kasuga Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement of the AASD. Professor Li has published 20 book chapters and 142 papers, including some highly-cited papers in high-impact journals such as Diabetes, Diabetes Care, Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, International Journal of Obesity, FASEB Journal, Obesity and Translational Research.
