The paper proposes an ANN approach to identify those days with similarly hourly load patterns and natural inflows. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by short-term hydro scheduling of the Taiwan power system which consists of 10 hydro plants. The paper also concludes that the proposed approach is effective in reaching proper hydro generation schedules and is faster than the conventional dynamic programming approach. |
