Department of Athletics was officially established on October 24th, 1995 under the Center of General Education, which consists of four sections: Teaching and Research, Activity Promotion, Field and Facility Management, and Athletics Section in College of Law and Medicine. The objective of Department of Athletics is devoting to provide a good learning environment and holding diverse sports activities. Besides, the “Master Program of Sport Facility Management and Health Promotion” is going to establish in 2016. The program aims to enhance the managed efficiency of sport facilities, to assist in community activity planning and to facilitate the leisure activity of community. The program, moreover, integrates research resources from different departments and industry-university cooperations.
The research areas of this program cover sport management, sport medicine, sport sociology, sport Psychology, sport physiology and so on. In the area of sport management, subjects as for sport facility management, mega events management, leisure activity management and implementation are all included. In sport physiology, physical activity interventions and physical conditions, sport and disease are main subjects. In other social science of sport areas are focusing on sport participation, sport media, sport education and sport cultural studies and its influence and effects on daily life.
Therefore, the researches of Athletic Department have distinguished features as
1) Multidisciplinary research
To emphasize the connection to other major disciplines, cooperate with different research teams and to look for opportunities for international research.
2) Practical-based driven
To integrate effective connection of theoretical framework from multidiscipline, the researches based on teaching, coaching, leisure instructing and administrating will conduct to facilitate the practicability of research projects.
