The DCO output features both wide tuning range and fine frequency resolution. The frequency tuning is realized by shunt connection of multiple inverter rings and current adjustment of inverter cells. The DCO is fabricated in 180-nm CMOS technology and the core area is 20 mumathrm{m}times 80 mumathrm{m}. The power supply of the chip is 1.8 V and its power consumption is from 7.2 to 14.4 mW for the output signal varying from 480 MHz to 2.34 GHz. The frequency tuning range is calculated as 131.9% and the minimum frequency step is 57 kHz. The measured phase noise is-103.3 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset and-120.6 dBc/Hz at 4 MHz offset from the signal frequency of 2 GHz. ? 2019 IEEE. |
